Our Story
A hyperlocal operation
Named for our daughter, Zozo Farms has been operating in different forms since 2016. In 2020 we settled on a CSA model, which is our only business—so you can be sure you will receive the best of everything we grow.
We raise our food using organic methods, in our yard in Albany, NY and on farmland in Delmar, NY that has been certified natural. We do not use chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, GMOs, or treated seeds. We sustain and enrich the soil by using cover crops, by regularly topping up with compost, and by adding crushed minerals once per year. We suppress weeds with tarps, hoes, and fingers, and use floating row cover to keep pests off of crops when they are at their most vulnerable. Hyperlocal production and distribution allow us—with our subscribers—to play a small part in reducing food miles, and to model an alternative to reliance on the industrial food system. Local, organically grown food also tastes better!
